is what got me really into Umphrey's. Had seen them live but this is on another level, peak stuff. Listen and change your life, friend.

Unbelievable! If not purely for the quality, the 'Diamond' is worth the DL alone... Well done, and a huge thanks my friend!

5 Stars in every way possible

Thank you for whoever was responsible for this recording. The overall sound quality 5 stars. This might be the best download I've ever got from this site. THANK YOU TO WHOEVER MAKES IT POSSIBLE and of course, UMPHREY'S MCGEE

This show absolutely blew my mind!! Great sound quality, and a great set! Shows like this are great for showing to any non-umphreak, keep playing like this guys and the sky is your limit.

Subject: Is that a "March of the SOD" i heard?
One of the first UM i ever heard. Recently dug it out again and remembered how good this show is.

There is a nice March of the SOD riff in the > part of SociableJimmy > JazzOdyssey

Subject: seriously brother???
This show rocks, but the brother bitchin' about post Mantis UM and wished it was 5 years ago UM. I get your point on a level, however are you suggesting the Band just keep trying to recreate music like they did in (your fav. year).?

Man that would be boring for the bad. I love New UM, and Old setlists in 2010 have been sick, music great. I have stood looking for my face after many shows.

"hope your expectations......."

expectations are a b#$^ cuz nothing ever measures up. Free your mind and get with the New UM program.

Shoot they keep trying new stuff... S2 and the UM bowl.

Subject: when will umph get back to this>!>!!>!!!>!!!!
what can i say? shows like this are the reason umph was the up and coming act in 2003,2004,2005. Now with Mantis many fans seem a bit complacent with the direction the band is taking. maybe its because "theyve made it", theyve platued and now are vibing off each other in different unique and experimental ways.
thats all fine and good, but what happened to the unrelenting passion for the new and undiscovered these guys put forth nearly every night only 5 years ago? maybe i need to get with the program, accept that umph wants to incorporate a heavy element of electronic to their sets, but to me shows like this will always be the reason i go to umph concerts. thanks for the incredibly clean recording. even 6 years later this show is as fresh as ever. amen.

This show is great, the recording is great, and I just want to say how happy it makes me to see usernames like Makisupa McGee, GolgiApparatus, phishphreak, caspian, etc. giving such glowing reviews to teh UMPH...for all the supposed animosity between the fans of the two bands, I love seeing all these crossover fans :)
Reviewer: NateBW - favoritefavoritefavoritefavoritefavorite - August 30, 2007
Subject: AMAZING
I know this show has already gotten top notch reviews, but let me say this: This show was my first and only UM experience. I knew it was something seriously specially by how tight the band was and how into the fans were. I saw my share of Phish, Dead, SCI, etc and I know when a band evokes passion in fans. UM sure does. Shine On and And Justice, where awesome.
Reviewer: Living_Dead_Bear - favoritefavoritefavoritefavoritefavorite - July 23, 2007
Subject: Jazz Odyssey
...you fellow jam-scene/metalheads out there might take notice of the fact that the first set's Jazz Odyssey opens with the entire intro from an Autopsy (Official Page) tune, and just completely kills, showing the range of their influences. (two hand tapping anyone? thanks eddie van!)

Incredible show. A must have for the Umphrey's fan, or (most especially) those unfamiliar with their music, as the All In Time which opens this particular set has turned many of my friends on to the Umphs.

Subject: Absolutely Superb!
Of course the band is excellent, but what REALLY impresses me is the quality of the recoding. Then I saw "Source: KB's Matrix > UMLIVE CDR" and during the show, heard an announcement that CD's of this very show were being sold afterward. So for fabulous sound quality, I should look for UMLIVE CDR, eh?
Seriously, the band displays 70's ProgRock chops with none of the pretentiousness of that era and m'v't and in short, displays the 21st Century Jam Band "Let's have some FUN" ethic, not taking any thing too seriously. In the 70's this attitude was not was not quite, but almost the sole territory of Zappa. The 21st Century Jam Band m'v't is AWESOME, Umphrey's McGee is the very definition of it, and this show is recorded better than most band's official live albums! Fabulous! I listened to the VBR MP3s too!

Subject: ?WHAT?
Feeling a bit bewildered that Umphrey's never made it into my collection. Just finished the first set and I'm blown away. These guys a top shelf band. Without reference, I've still gotta say this show is a hot one. SOUND quality is great. Just added a new band to my favorites thanks to the Archive. I guess you learn something new every day.
Can't wait to get out to a show!
Reviewer: hyperboy - favoritefavoritefavoritefavoritefavorite - April 27, 2006
Subject: F-ing SICK show!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This may be the best sounding show on the archives, by any band! Seriously!

The setlist is insane. The Pink Floyd and Metallica covers are amazingly done....only UM can pull off shit like this. Jake and Brendan are the most talented guitar players in the scene. But Steve Kimock still is my main man.

Anyway, this is must have for any music lover who loves to rock out hard. Sound quality is top notch.

I didn't see this show - I can only tell you what I hear.

This download sounds FANTASTIC. Crisp, clear sound; great playing; excellent song list.

If you only download one UM concert, this one is a good choice.
Reviewer: Makisupa McGee - favoritefavoritefavoritefavoritefavorite - March 5, 2006
Subject: How can you not love these guys???
Every time I go to an UM show, I walk away with the feeling that they are one of (if not the) hardest working (jam) bands on the scene. Their apparant perfectionist attitude towards playing live music brings a much needed sense of professionalism to the genre. This show is no exception.

I'll give you the reason to download this show:

SOYCD > Bridgeless > Uncommon > Nothing too Fancy (not to mention All in Time)

This and the 2004-05-20 show are my two fav UM shows, and Bridgeless has become my song of choice. I have been listening to UM for a solid year now, and its not nearly long enough. I've ran through this show about 30-40 times now, and I am still amazed...

The Fox's amazing acoustics really embrace Umphrey's sound you can distinctly hear every instrument which is rare among archive shows

Subject: New Umphrey's fan found in Oz.
This is the greatest find I've made on the net so far. Words cannot convey just how privileged I feel in having found this incredible Archive. I'm a dedicated music fan who lives in Brisbane, Australia and being able to hear a gig from New York or Boulder performed literally a few days beforehand is way more than merely just 'a treat'. It seems more an expression of true democracy. The sense of community expressed through the reviews is also appreciated. While downloading a superb Robert Randolph gig, I noticed one review referring to an earlier gig at the same venue by "Umphrey's". Finding the name Umphrey's McGee on the Archive's menu I chose to invest some faith in the reviewer's recommendation and downloaded this show. If anyone monitors these reviews on behalf of the band, you can tell 'em they have a new fan in Australia! Listening to the opening track, All In Time, impressed me so much I played it again before moving on to the next. This band is so tight 'n' funky. My thanks to the Colorado reviewer for the heads-up on a band I had never previously heard of. I have since downloaded another Umphrey's gig from July '04 and there will be more! Venturing further afield also led me to discover the Stolen Ogre gig at the Acme Underground from August '04 and again I was far more than just pleasantly surprised. This Archive gets me to places that radio and the music press don't reach. Thanks again.
